Karanovo: Die Ausgrabungen im Südsektor 1984-1992by Stefan Hiller and Vassil NikolovKaranovo is known as one of the most outstanding prehistoric sites in South-Eastern Europe. Unfortunately, little of the material which was found during the 1947-1957 excavations has been published. A new project has been carrying out excavations since 1984, led by a joint Bulgarian-Austrian team. The aim is to provide a more detailed picture of the stratigraphy and small finds. This is the first volume on the recent excavations, containing the results from work carried out between 1984 and 1992. A great deal of Neolithic material was found, particularly from the Early Neolithic period: but there were also rich deposits from Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age pits. Two volumes. Vol 1: text, 480p, Vol 2: 172 figs, 33 b/w & 2 colour photos (Berger & Söhne 1998) Browse other Neolithic Europe books |
