Terra Sigillata und Dünnwandige Keramik aus Moesia Inferior (Nordbulgarien)

by Alexandra Dimitrova-Milceva

An illustrated catalogue and discussion of Samian wares and thin-walled ceramics which have been found in sites belonging to the Roman province of Moesia Inferior, now northern Bulgaria. The author first considers burnished Samian wares, manufactured in Italy, Gaul and the Rhein area. The next chapter presents relief decorated Samian areas which were made in Italy, throughout Gaul and closer to Moesia Inferior, such as in Pannonia. The author finally considers twelve groups of `Thin-walled' wares which have been found in the region. A catalogue of over 440 examples concludes the volume. Illustrations portray the range of forms and decoration found. German text. 73p plus 30 p of b/w pls (Nous 2000)
