Charters of New Minster, Winchester

These 34 documents from the pre-Conquest archive of the New Minster reflect aspects of ecclesiastical and royal life in the 10th and 11th centuries. The Minster was perhaps founded to serve the spiritual needs of the royal household and the archive comprises a number of royal documents including the wills of King Alfred and King Eadred. Other charters include grants, diplomas, refoundation charters, bequests and other wills.
