Die spätmykenischen Siegel aus Weichem Stein

by Aurelia Dickers

An examination of 490 late Bronze Age soft-stone and pressed glassed seals of mainland Greece, focusing on `Mainland Popular Group' seals and ornamentally decorated flourite seals which are both characteristic of Mycenaean Greece. Dickers discusses and contrasts the quality, shape, wear and iconography of the seals, many of which feature animal or linear motifs, and speculates on the significance of the seals, largely based on their archaeological provenance in rich burials. Includes an illustrated catalogue. German text, English summary. 245p, 51 b/w pls, b/w figs (IA 33, VML 2001)
