Der `Thrako-Kimmerische' Formenkreis aus der Sicht der Urnenfelder- und Hallstattzeit im südöstlischen Pannonien

by Carola Metzner-Nebelsick

This detailed analysis of the transition from the Bronze Age to Hallstatt period in southeastern Pannonia is based on a comprehensive catalogue of hoards of bronze horse gear known collectively as the `Thraco-Cimmerian complex'. These items have an Eastern European provenance, date from c.1000-750 BC and are evidence of a `short-term migration of eastern Thraco-Cimmerian populations to the Carpathian basin'. Divided into two volumes, the study of the hoards is complemented by a wider analysis of the cultures of the region throughout the Urnfield and Hallstatt periods, based on archaeological evidence from selected cemetery sites. The illustrated catalogue of the horse gear and associated finds is presented in the second volume. German text with English, Hungarian and Serbian summaries. 2 vols: 726p, 250 figs, 144 b/w pls (Vorgeschichtliche Forschungen 23, VML 2003)
