Le Collège de France (Paris): Du quartier gallo-romain au Quartier latinedited by Laurent GuyardPrior to the renovation of the Collège de France in the Latin Quarter of Paris, excavations were carried out in 1994-95 in three of the courtyard areas. These investigations revealed a sequence of buildings from the 1st century proto-urban Roman settlement and the baths which were dismantled in the late 3rd century, through to the increased urbanisation of the area in the medieval period. Finally the building sequence of the college, the first stage of which was built in the early 17th century, is documented. 283p, b/w figs (DAF 95, 2003) Browse other Roman Gaul books Browse other Medieval France books |
