Early Hominin Landscapes in Northern Pakistan: Investigations in the Pabbi Hills

by R W Dennell

This volume reports on ongoing fieldwork by the British Mission, plus the results of a previous season 1986-90, which focused on the Jhelum Basin in the Pabbi Hills in northern Pakistan. The aim was `to find evidence for early hominid occupation and to place this in its environmental and chronological context'. Much of the volume presents, mostly in tables, the geological and environmental data and fossilised occurrences from a series of surveys. This is followed by a discussion of the stone artefacts and a synthesis of results which makes comparison with material from elsewhere in Asia and East Africa. 454p b/w figs, tbs (BAR S1265, 2004)
