Glasfunde des Mittelalters und der fruhen Neuzeit aus Braunschweig

by Martia Bruckschen

This detailed and specialised analysis of hollow glass production and glass objects produced in northern Germany during the medieval and early post-medieval periods is based around an illustrated catalogue of almost 400 vessels found during excavations of Brunswick in Lower Saxony. The catalogue is preceded by a discussion of glass technology before a typology is presented for each vessel form in turn. These include drinking glasses, medical vessels, urinals and lamps, as well as numerous highly ornate figurative vessels and vases. Finally, the volume examines the archaeological context of the finds. German text. 420p, many b/w illus, booklet of 58 col pls (Materialhefte zur Ur- und Frühgeschichte Niedersachsens 33, VML 2004)
