The Archaeology of Fishbourne and Chichester: A Framework for Its Futureedited by John ManleyFishbourne Palace is justly one of the most famous of all Roman sites in this country, but even here there is much further archaeological work to be done, particularly in relation to settlement activity in the pre-Roman centuries, and in environmental archaeology. This research framework is one of a series sponsored by English Heritage which will eventually cover the whole country and to be updated every five years. It lays out the immediate research and conservation priorities for Fishbourne and the surrounding area, and includes summaries of the current state of research for each chronological period from the mesolithic to the present day, as well as alerting readers to the results of unpublished excavations. 179p col illus (Sussex Archaeology 2008) Browse other Roman Britain books |
