One of the most important events in the development of Egyptology in the early 19th century was the publication of the findings of Napoleon's expedition of scholars to Egypt, the monumental Description de l'Égypte. That massive, multi-volume work is the subject of this brief study, published to accompany an exhibition of a copy of the Description and related materials in the collection of the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology.
