A collection of recent studies on GIS applications in South America. For example, one contribution reports the location of archaeological materials from northwestern Andean Patagonia, Argentina, modelled using GIS and image processing techniques. The model was tested against the spatial distribution of known archaeological rock art sites and proved to be good indicator.
