Contributions to the Poetry and Theology of Psalms and Psalters for Science and the Church] This anthology contains Beat Weber’s contributions to recent research in the Book of Psalms. In the first part he introduces the “poetological approach“ to the Psalms and discusses the effects of a canonical approach to the exegesis of the Psalter and its Psalms. These approaches are exemplified in studies of individual Psalms in the second part and of collections of Psalms and their theology as well as of tradents in the third part. These studies show how fruitful it is to correlate exegesis of individual Psalms, inquiry into their interrelationships within collections of Psalms and the illumination of their historical setting. The anthology is concluded by a study of the Psalms’ relevance for pastoral care and several sermons on the Psalms, all of which indicate the author‘s primary goal, which is to combine academic interpretation and church practice in fruitful ways.
Der Band vereint Beiträge von Beat Weber zur neueren Psalmenforschung. Der erste Teil führt in den Ansatz des »poetologischen Zugangs« zu den Psalmen ein und reflektiert die Auswirkungen eines kanonischen Ansatzes für die Exegese des Psalters und seiner Psalmen. Diese Zugänge werden konkretisiert in Studien zu Einzelpsalmen im zweiten Teil und zu Psalmengruppen und ihrer Theologie und Trägerkreisen im dritten Teil. Darin zeigt sich, wie fruchtbringend die Korrelation der Exegese der Einzelpsalmen und der Wahrnehmung ihrer Verflechtung innerhalb der Psalmengruppen ist. Der Sammelband schließt mit der Beschreibung der seelsorglichen Relevanz der Psalmen und der Wiedergabe einiger Predigten des Autors über sie und zeigt damit eines seiner Anliegen an: die fruchtbringende Verknüpfung von wissenschaftlicher Arbeit und kirchlichem Handeln.
