This study uses documentary, textual and numismatic evidence, and archaeological survey data, to assess the development of the political economy and urban growth from the 9th to 15th century AD. Ennahid looks at the rise, growth and eventual collapse of the major dynastic states and uses this case study to test the Boone model of state development and urban growth.
