This well-presented volume presents a catalogue of all 324 Etruscan and Italic objects held by the Museum preceded by eight essays which examine the historical and cultural background to the objects as well as an overview of the archaeology of early central Italy. Cross-referenced wuth the catalogue, these introductory chapters discuss the material evidence for early Etruscans, the early history of the Faliscans, Etruscan language, daily life, the use of Greek pots, Etrurian crafts and commerce, religion and religious architecture, death and burial. The objects themselves include jewellery, armoour and weaponry, belts, horse gear, bronze vessels, inscriptions, weaving tools, shoes, domestic items, mirrors, figurines, amulets, votive feet, sarcophagae. Each entry incorporates a full description and commentary as well as at least one back and white photograph.
