Details
A reprint of Leland's 1977 book tracing the preservation of ancient religious and cultural traditions in recent Italian history. Part historical and part ethnographic in its approach, Leland explores the evidence for the ways in which beliefs associated with ancient Etruscan religions had survived in the form of witchcraft, sorcery, myth, spells, tales, anecdotes, and so forth, both in Roman times and in modern northern Italy. The book does not discuss archaeological evidence as the word `Remains' in the title may imply.
