These seven articles (plus introduction and conclusion) focus on the sanctuaries of Etruria and the attendant rituals of the Etruscans. They include some of the latest evidence from four Etruscan sacred sites - Tarquinia, Orvieto, Poggio Colla and Cetamura - all currently under excavation. They cover a chronological range of c.600-100 BC, from the Archaic era down to the final period of identifiable Etruscan culture. The book also features synthetic studies pertaining to ritual, with examinations based on excavated evidence for Etruscan cult statuary, votive dedications and their context, and the ceremonial aspects of wine in a religious setting.
