Following on from his earlier work on the "Proto Ionians", Jean Faucounau focuses on the origins of Greek civilisation in the Bronze Age, and addresses several historical problems in doing so. Investigations into widely discussed controversies, for example - the genesis of the Indo-European languages and the century of obscurity that followed the end of the Bronze Age - are conducted with a view to solving the problems rooted in trying to pin-point the birth of Greek civilisation. The author presents an original solution, focusing particularly on the "Proto-Ionian" theory, by which he proposes that the history of the Greeks can be elongated by a millennium - ultimately to include those "unknown" areas of the late Bronze Age.
