Mycenaean pottery is found at a number of sites across the Mediterranean and this monograph, based on the author's dissertation, traces the distribution patterns from Sardinia in the west to Egypt and the whole of the Levant in the east. A series of sites are selected for detailed study, three from each of the principle regions, with Van Wijngaarden assessing the quantities of different types of pottery and the contexts in which they appear. Well written and clearly presented, with much of the raw data confined to the catalogue, this study provides evidence for the growth of complex networks of trade and exchange in the Mediterranean in the Late Bronze Age and highlights the pivotal role for Cyprus for the distribution and consumption of Mycenaean goods.
