This volume describes a series of excavations undertaken in the historic town of Newbury. Evidence was recovered helping to chart the development of the town from the 11th century, possibly earlier, throughout the medieval period. Well-stratified sequences of pottery, metalwork, faunal and environmental data were recovered but no trace was found of the 12th century castle.
