In 1311 at the end of his life, the Catalan thinker and missionary Ramon Llull, dictated this extraordinary and self-justificatory autobiography, which explains his philosophical technique, and recounts the various disputations with which he had been involved, from his submissions to Popes and to the council of Vienne, to his argumentation with the Muslims of Tunis. The colour plates reproduce some beautiful miniatures illustrating the life of Llull. Latin text with facing English translation.
