American Society of Papyrologists

The American Society of Papyrologists (ASP) was founded in 1961 to further the study of ancient Greek and Latin papyri and of the materials contained in them. The Society supports and encourages research in the field, the teaching of the discipline, and opportunities for international cooperation by the scholars in the field. Members of the American Society of Papyrologists may join the Association International de Papyrologues (AIP), which sponsors the triennial International Congress of Papyrology and subsidizes such scholarly enterprises as the Wörterbuch der Greichischen Papyrusurkunden and the photographic archives of papyri maintained in Brussels. ASP members receive the quarterly Bulletin of the American Society of Papyrologists (BASP). Further information about joining the Society or subscribing to the Bulletin can be obtained from the Treasurer, Dr William Johnson. Further information about Papyrology, including access to on-line databases of papyri, can be obtained at the Duke University Papyrus Archive. The Society's backlist and new publications can be viewed below
