Originally founded in 1972 as Three Rivers Press, Carnegie Mellon University Press describes itself as a publisher of poetry, but also publishes a wealth of other literary material including poetry criticism, guidebooks and handbooks about the writing of poetry, regional social history (which they define as titles which explore the history of Pennsylvania), art history and performing arts. In addition this, Carnegie Mellon claim to be unique among American Universities in offering interactive studies in the fine arts and computer technology.
