John Buridan

A detailed introduction to the thought of John Buridan (c.1300-1362). Aside from the fact that he taught at the University of Paris and was twice its Rector, very little is known of Buridan's life, and the book thus focuses entirely on his writings, mainly commentaries on Aristotle and his thought. Buridan devoted his attentions less to theology than many of his contemporaries, and his concerns centre on logic and ontology; he is principally famed for his nominalist philosophy and ideas on language.
