Sidestone Press
Sidestone Press is an academic publishing house founded by scholars, for scholars. As a publisher we have one clear ambition, that is to make scientific information available to all. We believe scientific information should be available at all time, at all places and to each and every one. This means that the printing and selling of books is but one part of what we believe a good publisher should do.
Apart from printed books that can be found in libraries and bookstores around the world, Sidestone books can also be freely accessed online through different channels such as Google Books, Google Scholar and through our own digital ebook library. By offering access to our books for free, more people than ever have access to our publications. First of all this is beneficial for our authors as it greatly increases the exposure of their work, and in effect, the impact of their research. Second, of course, it enables our readers – scholars and students around the world – to access our publications at any time and at any place, including those parts of the world where access to good quality academic libraries is not guaranteed.
Peer-review & Sidestone Imprints
From 2012 onwards Sidestone books are published under one of three different imprints: Sidestone Press Academics, Sidestone Press Dissertations and Sidestone Press.
“Academics” is the imprint reserved for peer-reviewed publications. The “Dissertation” Imprint is applied to all PhD theses that are also considered peer-reviewed. The “Sidestone Press” imprint relates to all non-peer-reviewed publications, as well as all books published prior to 2012.

Authors, Projects and Partners
Sidestone publishes books for various authors, projects and partners. These vary from monographs by single authors to full book series for large institutes. We also work on various projects that focus on digitizing and re-issuing of old, out-of-print books. These can include textbooks of 10 years old but also ancient classics of over 350 years old. Have a look at the projects we did so far and are working on at the moment.
Partners & Series
Sidestone is a publishing partner for various institutes such as the Dutch National Museum of Ethnography, the municipality of Delft. Some of these co-operations feature in the section “Partners”. Feel free to contact us to learn what Sidestone could mean as a publishing partner for your institute, or have a look at some of our current partners & series.

Idealistic Publishers (NRC 27/04/2013)
Sidestone Press [was] founded six years ago by the recently graduated archaeologists Corné van Woerdekom and Karsten Wentink. Puzzled by the power of established academic publishers they thought, we can do better. Sidestone allows authors to keep the full copyright, enabling them, for example, to freely distribute their book over the internet. Also at www.sidestone.com the books can be read for free. Business is going well: in the past six years they published 80 books in various academic fields. For 2013 already 40 titles are planned to be published.
